Our
Story

Lenore Lyons

I am a retired elementary school teacher and artist who has developed award winning arts education programs. I am passionate about making creative experiences accessible to everyone. This led me to developing The Key Idea®, a large-scale community art project that uses keys to inspire big ideas. Thousands of people ages 1 to 100+ created KeyStories, small pieces of art, which have been exhibited across the country including at the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum in Washington DC. This project was offered at locations across the country. I am equally comfortable presenting to small and large groups.
This is my first graphic novel, yet I have a life-long passion for literacy and art. I journal regularly, including documenting every day of the pandemic - six volumes! I teach mixed media journaling in the community to diverse learners. The same simple skills of lettering, drawing and writing are enjoyed by so many people- from at risk youth to seniors who travel.
My wife Diane and I cared for our granddaughter Ellie during the coronavirus crisis and much of remote school. This story reflects our observations and shared experiences of this unique time, including drawing comics. Ellie is the creator of the Magic Marker Town Tales. Click to see the comix.
